This is “The LEGO Movie” you deserve! Hello moviegoers, Everything is awesome! Everything is cool when you’re a part of a team!’ is the catchy theme song and the embodiment of this clever, action-packed spoof of the superhero genre that’s rich with theme and personality.
The popular interlocking bricks which can be manipulated into just about anything are the building blocks of a fully envisioned landscape which sees purveyor of good Vitruvius voiced by (Morgan Freeman) speak of prophecy. The prophecy of the “Special”, a golden-hued Master Builder who’s destiny will have them met with the “Piece of Resistance” which they’ll use to contain the threat of the “Kragle” and defeat Lord Business (Will Ferrell).

Lord Business voiced by Will Ferrell is a strict conformist who misleads the community in his public life as President Business, but behind the scenes plans to use the popular social gathering Taco Tuesdays as the staging ground where he’ll use the “Kragle” to glue the masses in place permanently, not only robbing them of their dynamic movement but also their individual creativity.
The sun rises on the present-day waking Emmet Brickowoski voiced by (Chris Pratt) a lowly, golden-hued construction worker who follows an instruction manual that tells him what to do from brushing his teeth to how to greet his neighbors. And the best he can do as a builder is a double-decker couch-bed-cooler thing that will find its place, but you’ll have to see. Emmet’s possessing of the “Piece of Resistance” is witnessed by a confident and spunky Master building Wyldstyle or Lucy voiced by (Elizabeth banks). Her boyfriend is Batman – Will Arnett – and he’s as good and reliable as you would expect.
Lord Business with the help of his number one enforcer Bad Cop (Liam Neeson) who is a two-faced if not conflicted character, is able to capture many of the Master Builders which include such Luminaries as Abraham Lincoln, and Green Lantern among others by using their individual strengths against them.
When it is realized Emmet isn’t the “Special” and the prophecy is made up, it will take Emmet whose confidence has grown to convince the remaining Master Builders it is important, now, that they work as a team to defeat Lord Business.
The movie presents familiar themes in a way that’s easily accessible to most demographics like the idea that you don’t have to be a master builder, so to speak, to contribute in a meaningful way; and the movie has a fitting ending that ties the whole thing together. I must warn that there is one scene near the end of the movie that involves the beheading of a major character. It might not be a big deal, but just a little forewarning for parents.
Fun entertainment and plenty of in-jokes, ‘The Lego Movie’ is easily the best movie I have seen so far this year and I give it 3 ½ sweet potatoes out of four. This has been your resident moviegoer and I will see you after the movies at moviegoersview.com.
