‘The Dark Tower’ international trailer #2

Have you guys seen this? It’s, the international trailer for “The Dark Tower.”

I am unfamiliar with this mythology but, the movie is a based on the ‘epic novels’ by Stephen King and is said to be a sequel to the novels – so, that is interesting. The movie stars Idris Elba as The Gunslinger who happens to be the last in a long line of gunslingers tasked with protecting the Dark Tower. And this Dark Tower we are told is the last thing that stands between the light and darkness. In his efforts to keep the light on, Idris Elba wheels and deals with a pair of six-shooters against Matthew McConaughey’s The Man in Black, who has a few tricks of his own and insists on darkness.

From this trailer, The Dark Tower seems like it might to be caught between two places literally and in terms of the narrative. The movie is set in both modern-day and the Mid-World, which is fine. However, the narrative comes across as hokey because Elba’s cold-as-ice demeanor is undermined by pistol gymnastics and less than great dialog. McConaughey’s is as he can be, a bit of a distraction with that twang of his. The trailer visually looks good, but I think this one might have given away too much or suggests there might not be much more to the film than what this trailers shows. This trailer gets a score of 7 out of 10.
